You're always greeted with a smile and a wave from The Governor's Land team of security officers. Based at the Security Cottage just inside the entrance to the community, all security guards are designated conservators of the peace by the Commonwealth of Virginia.
24-Hour Security. The security officers provide 24-hour services that include greeting visitors and providing information and directions, monitoring the Governor's Land entrance with camera surveillance, responding to emergencies, and conducting regular patrols of residential neighborhoods, Governor's Land and Two Rivers Country Club buildings, the storage/parking lot, common areas and nature trails.
Scheduled House Checks When Traveling. Residents have the added peace of mind knowing their homes will be regularly checked when they are traveling away from home, if requested. With the submission of a House Check Form, security officers will make scheduled inspections — even checking doors and windows — if this is the level of service indicated.
County Emergency Services. James City County Fire Station #5, which includes an emergency medical response ambulance, is located 1.1 miles from the entrance to Governor's Land. The station is staffed by three shifts of fire fighters and medical technicians.
Community Emergency Response Team (CERT).
Equipped with extensive classroom and situational training provided through the James City Fire Department, certified CERT members stand ready to assist other residents in Governor's Land following an emergency situation when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
